Previous Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy Predicts Future Risk of Chronic Diseases

Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy are group of conditions associated with hypertension with or without and other manifestations systemic health changes. The severest form of them is pre-eclampsia which is one of the leading causes of maternal deaths in Low- and Middle-income countries (LMICs). Apart from their negative effects on maternal and perinatal health, hypertensive disorders in pregnancy put women at increased risks of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular and kidney diseases, further increasing the burden of chronic non-communicable diseases and premature deaths.
